I love these tips! Mine are a bit older now but wish I’d known about the big bucket earlier. I did a lot of solo long-haul with a toddler a few years ago and would add to stick to clear liquids to drink for both you and the small one! No OJ or red wine! Also plastic kitchen ziplocks are so good for the plane - keep a spare change of clothes in one and then if you do have a disaster the messy clothes can go in the ziplock - and can be sealed away until landing.

Also if you can cope in the car - you will be fine in the plane. I know you can’t get off! But you can get up and walk around, and you are given food and sometimes other passengers are kind and will play pretend telephone with your toddler from Sydney to Singapore x

That big bucket tip is a game changer for a family with kids who love caravan holidays, but don’t love showers. Thanks!

Sorry for the basic q but I love the bendy bucket idea, what size/dimensions should I be looking for? It’s hard to tell from the pic!

Just back from a week in France with toddler twins and organising everything in different pouches and backpacks for the plane was essential. We had a disastrous nappy incident before we even left Stanstead.

A week in a caravan sounds like a perfect late summer holiday. That might be our next one if we can brave the car journey. Do you have any favourite toddler friendly beaches is Dorset or Cornwall, Frankie?

The bendy bucket is a great tip!

Late summer is the perfect time to go! The water is warmer in September and no school holiday crowds. We go to Treyarnon Bay in Cornwall. Mothecombe in south Devon is perfect. Bantham beach is also great x

My son really suffers with motion sickness on all forms of transport so I sympathise with the need for the bucket/wipes/clothes and being relegated to the back seat. It blew my mind when aged approx 7 he told us that he didn’t get sick if he was travelling in a car at night time. It must be the vision/balance and lack of light - but it has transformed our big journeys x
