I appreciate that Black Friday has its issues (a promoter of over consumerism! Pressure to panic buy! Constant inbox badgering!) BUT kids are expensive and Christmas is round the corner, so you might appreciate the opportunity to take advantage of discounts right now. I know I do.
Although actual Black Friday isn't until the end of the week, lots of brands have already started their sales, meaning there are deals to be found.
To help cut through the noise - and save you time! - I’ve pulled together an edit of the loveliest bits for you and the kids. Also! A couple of useful things if you’re about to have a baby.
So whether you're getting a jump start on present buying, or just having a shop for yourself, here we go…
NICE BITS FOR YOU
Luxe soap
Yum Aesop! I can't have nice hand soap because my son has figured out how to use the pump, but if I could, I would get my all-time favourite Reverence hand wash (oooh the grainy texture!). What a lovely treat-to-self. Or a luxey gift for secret Santa/nursery key workers/teachers. (Now £28.05*, was £33. Use the code AESOP15 at checkout, valid until Monday 25th).
Striped jumper
A chic striped jumper that’s going to shake-up your winter jeans and boots outfits. Imagine it with white denim and black flats in the spring, too. (Now £87.20, was £109.)
Nylon sling bag
A useful cross-body bag to keep phone, keys, cards, etc close to hand when you're out with the kids. I adore the dark chocolate colourway way which feels more unexpected than black, but will still go with everything. The nylon is giving 90s Prada… and wipe clean! (Now £82, was £110.)
Shearling mules
So wrong they're right - and fabulously comfortable. I got these a couple of months ago and haven't stopped wearing them (with socks). Ideal for slipping on to do the nursery run in. I've also worn them to the pub - fuck it. (Now £135, were £180.)
Buggy mittens
Because pushing a buggy in winter means cold hands. Keep these fuzzy lined mittens velcroed to the handle bar and you’re ready to go. (Now £21.25, was £42.50.)
The best natural deodorant
I’ve spoken about Fussy before. It's the best natural deodorant I've come across and keeps you dry and non-smelly. You can currently get 25% off everything on the website, meaning a holder and three refills (which should last you a good few months) is just over £20. I use cedar and patchouli scented Night Tales refills which are delish.
Cashmere beanie
Whilst cashmere jumpers feel risky with kids, wearing cashmere on your head - out of reach of mucky hands - is a safer bet. This fuzzy beanie is the softest, most glorious moment of luxury on a cold day. (Now £71, was £95.)
Chic pyjamas
TBCo (formerly the Tartan Blanket Company) has undergone a rebrand and is well worth looking at for cute, cosy accessories, homewear and kids bits. I permanently have the picnic blanket with in-built ground sheet in the bottom of my buggy.
Sign up the mailing list and get an extra 10% discount on these pjs, which are already down to £79.20, from £99.
Lip mask
My friend recommended me this for very dry lips. Keep it on your bedside table and pop some on before you fall asleep. What a lovely stocking filler. (Now £15.75, was £21.)
Party top
Chic sparkle for Christmas! This would be so easy to throw on with jeans. Or go more glam and wear it with a slip skirt. (Now £76.50, was £90.)
I can also imagine getting a lot of wear out of these black wool trousers. (Now £110.50, were £130.)
GIFTS FOR THE KIDS
New jim jams
A Christmas classic! My son has been wearing Baby Mori’s ribbed set for almost a year and aside from now being on the snug side, they still look great and feel soft. (Now £29.25, was £32.50.)
Digital camera
A friend's three-year-old had this when we went round for lunch recently and he and my son were kept entertained for ages. It has fun backgrounds and selfie mode, plus they can record little videos. (Now £23.99, was £29.99.)
Fleece jacket
I really rate Kidly’s own-label clothes, which are reasonably priced in any case, but currently have up to 50% off. This jacket is now £29, down from £32.
Ice cream counter
Another toy we came across at a friend's house and what a hit it was! I’d say particularly brilliant from 18 months-three years. (Now £37.49, was £49.99.)
Toniebox
This is one of the best toys we have. Both my kids love listening to it when they eat, and I find it a useful thing to tempt them away from the TV with when I start feeling guilty about screen time. Because you can keep adding new characters, it also provides good gifting ideas for subsequent birthdays/Christmases. (Now £63.96, was £79.95.)
Cute wellies
Scandi childrenswear brand Wheat has some great bits in the sale, like these cute welly boots. (Now £23.97, were £39.95.)
Pram suit
Toastie is another gorgeous kids brand to look at and is currently doing 40% off a selected range, including this fun pram suit. (Now £51, was £85.)
Silicone dinner wear
Stock up on your weaning kit at Kidly, where cups, suction bowls, spoons and bibs have up to 50% off.
Elvie pump
If you’re prepping for a new baby, I know how scarily expensive it can all feel. I remember almost crying in John Lewis at the price of car seats. For me, one of the things that was worth spending on was the Elvie pump. The main plus being that it’s wireless so you’re not tethered to a plug socket and can move around the house (freedom!). It also didn’t make me feel too much like a cow. (Now £201.75, was £269.)
Dungarees
OMFG too cute! I've been a fan of Dotty Dungarees since my son wore a pair for a photo shoot a couple of years ago. The pieces feel so well made and I love the brand story of two friends going into business together after having kids. (Now £33.60, were £48.)
Classical music player
I highly recommend this music toy for very little ones. This was my son’s favourite thing from about three months old and it once kept him occupied for the entire four-hour drive from Devon back to London. I can still recite the tunes by heart. (Now £9.99, was £10.99.)
New sibling book
Wonderbly’s personalised new sibling book was recommended to me when I was pregnant with my second baby and it's such a lovely idea. My son really enjoyed reading it and it helped him (I think!) get his head around having a new sister. £24.99 use code BLACKFRIDAY for 25% off
Snoo smart sleeper
Ending on an expensive one, but I’ll sing the praises of the Snoo to anyone who will listen. Both my kids went in this from birth for the first six months and it really worked at getting them (and keeping them!) asleep. I also found the fact they were secured on their back, and so couldn't flip over, extremely comforting, especially with my first baby when anxiety was at an all-time high. Full disclosure, I was gifted mine. HOWEVER I would honestly buy it a million times over - for me it is worth the money. And you can always resell it once you're finished with it, too. (Now £976.60, was £1395.)
That's all for now. You're doing great, Frankie x
